With New Investors, No. Va. Company Attracts Heavy Hitters as Board Members

Local Tech Upstart South49 Solutions Continues Aggressive Growth

STERLING, VA - May 05, 2009 - South49 Solutions, developer of the workforce management platform Natural Insight, has added several new members to its Board of Directors, and also created a new Board of Advisors. The announcement comes on the heels of the company's securing of Series A financing in January.

Among the most significant additions, according to South49 Solutions' founder and CEO Stefan Midford, is that of Michael Dering as chairman of the company's Board of Directors. The nationally-known Dering most recently served as president and CEO of ServiceBench, a leader in on-demand service management solutions. "Michael brings with him more than 25 years of experience helping technology companies thrive," notes Midford. "We see his decision to join as a validation of what we've been doing, and look forward to the new possibilities it will create moving forward."

Rounding out the new Board of Directors is Eric Arnson, co-founder of a private equity fund that led in the Series A financing, angel investor Denis Seynhaeve, South49 Solutions' VP for Technical Services Paul Carney, Jr., and Midford himself.

In addition, South49 Solutions recently formed a Board of Advisors. One of its more well-known members is John Henderson, a professor of management and faculty director in the Information Systems Department at Boston University's School of Management, and a widely published author on management issues. Henderson also plays a key role in the university's Institute for Global Work, an influential driver of research and thought leadership, of which South49 is a member.

Other Board of Advisors members include Rich Moore, president of a consulting practice that works with emerging growth companies and providers of "software-as-a-service" (SaaS) offerings. Moore previously held executive positions in companies including VM Software, Systems Center, Roadshow International, and Descartes Systems. In addition, John Estrada, former COO and co-founder of ServiceBench, has joined South49's Board of Advisors; Estrada brings with him more than 20 years of experience in corporate management of leading software application and development firms.
