American Merchandising Specialists (AMS) is a nationwide merchandising company dedicated to increasing sales for clients through brand representation, product training, technical services, merchandising and inventory management.

"Our success at AMS depends on a unique combination of great people, expert processes and innovative technology" said AMS President, Chris Nozet. “Because we have a large and decentralized workforce it is critical that we have the right technology tools to schedule workers, assign jobs, track time, capture data and measure performance with real time updates from the field."

In the past, AMS utilized a workforce management system that lacked usability and reporting capabilities. It was difficult for employees to collect and share operational data from the field, and even tougher for managers to analyze and share execution data with third-party clients. AMS managers were spending large amounts of time manually scheduling store visits, verifying time and attendance, and aggregating and reporting data for clients.

Last year AMS decided to upgrade their workforce management system. Their objective was to find an innovative workforce management platform that would enable them to:

  • Quickly and easily assign tasks to a mobile pool of part time and full time workers.
  • Use GPS check-in to hold employees accountable for on-time arrival at work.
  • Take photos so that managers can visually verify proper task execution.
  • Reduce the amount of in-office time spent on administrative tasks.
  • Generate intelligent operational reports so clients can be informed of project status.

After investigating a variety of alternatives, AMS selected the innovative workforce management cloud from Natural Insight. Said Nozet, "It was a great decision because it allows us to automate the process of managing workers so we can focus on delivering outstanding service to our customers.”

Business is booming since switching to Natural Insight. AMS employees are consistently on time. Projects are executed to perfection. And administrative overhead has been reduced by 800 hours since last August which means AMS executives have more time to focus on growing the business.

That's how great merchandisers improve in-store operations.
