By now most people have seen or at least heard about what happened during the 2015 Miss Universe pageant.

In case you missed it...Steve Harvey, the host of the show, mistakenly announced Miss Colombia as the winner when in fact, Miss Philippines was the rightful victor.

This awkward incident has led to numerous memes and funny videos floating around the twittersphere.  Including my personal favorite:

The moral of the story...execution is not guaranteed. This is true for retailers, product companies, merchandisers, and experiential agencies with thousands of employees completing work in remote locations.

Unfortunately, managers can't blindly trust in their Steve Harveys. Employees make mistakes and it's vital that a process is in place to ensure proper execution.

Industry leading organizations use photos. Last month alone, over 700,000 photos were uploaded onto the Natural Insight platform so that managers could visually verify task execution.

Fortunately for us, hourly employees are not on live television with thousands of people watching to see what they do, and mistakes are on a smaller scale. Those mistakes, however, do translate into real dollars and minimizing them is critical to success.
