Quality Assurance Engineer

OVERVIEW

The Quality Assurance Engineer works with the technology team to understand features and technical implementation, design and define the QA processes, develop repeatable and automatable QA systems, identify use cases and create test plans, define test strategies, and create manual and automated test cases in order to report to stakeholders on the quality and reliability of South49 Solutions’ products.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Participate in testing, configuration control, problem reporting and resolution, change control, and defect resolution as required.
• Collaborate with multiple teams, translating their input into testable requirements
• Work closely with developers, product owner and client services team to understand the features under test
• Develop test plans and strategies based on system requirements, team input and design documentation
• Verify test cases through database analysis, SQL select statements to ensure that data was captured correctly
• Identify, analyze, and document system defects

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 2 years experience testing or programming Web-based applications
• Minimum 1 year experience working with SQL, including stored procedures
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and the Document Object Model (DOM)
• Strong interpersonal skills, excellent troubleshooting and communication skills, and customer service focus
• Must be able to think creatively in the development of ideas and solutions
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
• Excellent verbal communication skills, with proficiency in English vocabulary            
• Proficient PC and Software skills
• Listening and responding to customer requests
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and regulations
• Ability to effectively provide information to clients and other employees
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks
• Ability to adapt quickly to change
• Detail-oriented

DESIRED SKILLS

• Previous experience with testing or development of SaaS platforms
• Some knowledge of Adobe ColdFusion 8 or above
• Some knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or above
• Knowledge jQuery a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Employees must be able to sit for extended periods of time, read information off computer screen, work within a moderate noise environment, and input information into an on-line application using a keyboard and mouse.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the Computer, Technology or Math field, is preferred but not required.
